Matching Grant Programs

Many matching grant programs are available in the Hampton Roads area for businesses looking to create a new website or expand their existing website.  Below is a list of grant programs and information for each.  Please carefully review all qualification criteria before applying for the grant.

City of Hampton E-Commerce Program

 

York County E-Commerce Grant Program

Grant Amounts:

• 50 percent of total project costs up to $500 per business. 

• SWAM certified minority and women owned businesses may receive a matching grant up to $1,000.

Qualification Criteria:

• Businesses must have York County business license.

• Website must not contain illegal or adult material.

City of Williamsburg E-Commerce Grant

Grant Amounts:

• Equal to 50 percent of total cost of the approved project, with a maximum lifetime grant amount of $1,500.00. 

• Grants are made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Qualification Criteria:

• Businesses must be for-profit.

• Current City of Williamsburg Business License and be located in the City of Williamsburg.

• No more than three physical locations in the City, and no locations outside of the City. 

• The same business may not receive more than one grant within a 12-month period.

Gloucester County E-Commerce Grant Program

Grant Amounts:

• Up to 50 percent of costs, not to exceed $500 per business.

• Minority, women and veteran owned businesses (certification required) may receive a matching grant up to $1000.

Qualification Criteria:

• Businesses must have a current Gloucester County business license.

• Website must not contain explicit, illegal or adult related materials.

City of Hampton E-Commerce Grant Program

Insercorp is working with the Industrial Development Authority of the City of Hampton, VA to offer up to $10,000.00 towards new website development, consulting, or search engine optimization for businesses legally operating in the City of Hampton.

Grant Amounts:

• Minority owned businesses - grants shall not exceed 60 percent of the total project cost up to a maximum of $10,000 once every three years.

• Non-minority owned businesses - grants shall not exceed 50 percent of the total project cost up to a maximum of $10,000 once every three years.

• Funding is subject to appropriation and grants are made on a first-come, first served basis.

Qualification Criteria:

• Must be a for-profit business currently licensed in and with its principal office located within the City of Hampton.

• Projects must be legal, no adult only material, ethical, and commercially viable.

• Applicants must use a preapproved Certified E-Commerce Grant Service Providers.

• Grants are to be used for the creation or enhancement of e-commerce sites and cannot be used for domain registration, web hosting, general maintenance services, or annual subscriptions.

• Grant funds cannot be awarded for a project which has been initiated prior to the approval of a grant application.
